Tips for a Great Looking Lawn

Whether you are a new homeowner or a seasoned pro, you understand that an amazing lawn doesn’t just happen. Here are a few tips to keep your lawn looking its best through the summer.

  • Rake or remove any left over leaves from the fall. Be sure to rake when the soil is dry so you do not pull up healthy grass.

  • Apply fertilizer—The use of fertilizer will strengthen your grass roots and reduce or prevent weeds. You can also use pest control to control fleas, ticks, grubs and more.

  • Tune up your mower—change the oil, spark plugs and filter and sharpen the blades. Regular maintenance of your mower and keeping your blades sharpened will keep your grass green and healthy.

  • Get out there and mow!

How Often-The general rule of thumb is to cut your grass once per week, this can vary on the season and type of grass that you have, spring may be 2 or 3 times. Change your mowing patterns each time that you now will avoid leaving ruts with the wheels and will promote a healthier looking lawn.
When—Mid-morning is typically best right after the grass has dried from the morning dew or moisture.
How Tall—Mowing at 3 inches or higher helps the grass conserve water, improves turf density and color.
